Best. Day. Ever.
I'd been promising my daughter a flower garden for a year now, so Wednesday after her doctor's appointment, we stopped at the Home Depot and got seeds. She got three Disney garden/green house things...one for tomatoes, one for cucumbers and another for flowers. Thursday dawned bright and early....she wanted to start planting as soon as we were up. We started our day with egg sandwiches (on homemade muffins lol) then proceeded to the great outdoors. We didn't have many gardening implements, so made do with what we had...she really loved getting to mess with the hose. She made LOTS of mud! (but she also cleaned some of the windows *smiles*). While we were readying the garden we came across a garter snake...I picked him up and took him to a safer (ie kid free) environment...but my daughter LOVED seeing and touching a real live snake (just like her mommy, she likes snakes). We planted wildflower butterfly/hummingbird seeds all around the house. Coming down the driveway will be sunflowers and lots of other types of colorful flowers that we can cut and make bouquets from all year (YAY)...and in the backyard, she will have her tomatoes (her favorite food in the world - she eats them like apples) and cucumbers. After we were done gardening, we went onto the backporch with our PBJ sandwiches and had a "picnic". We then blew bubbles and rested while looking at the sky and finding clouds - a lot harder than it sounds...it was a pretty clear day :). We then came inside and painted our nails, made smoothies, salad and pizza and watched Winnie-the-Pooh. At the end of the day, after my daughter was bathed and read to, she looked at me, smiled, and said "mommy, I had fun today"....that was the best part of one of the most wonderful days ever!
